Our Approach

Care That Starts With Comfort

No two dogs arrive the same way. A double coat needs different handling from a single one, a puppy's first visit is not a senior dog's routine trim, and a dog who loves the water may still dislike the dryer.

So we start by understanding the dog in front of us — coat type, breed tendencies, daily routine and how they respond to being handled. From there we agree what is realistic for this visit, and work at a pace that suits them.

Some dogs settle quickly. Others need a few visits before grooming feels familiar, and that is a perfectly normal place to start.

Grooming Services

What a grooming visit can include.

Choose what your dog needs on the day. We will talk through what suits their coat and comfort level before we begin.

Bath & Brush

A refreshing clean and coat care tailored to your dog's needs.

Haircut & Styling

A tidy, comfortable trim suited to your dog's coat and everyday routine.

Nail & Paw Care

Thoughtful attention to paws and nails as part of a grooming visit.

What To Expect

Three steps before the first brush.

Here is how a grooming visit is arranged, from first message to confirmed appointment.

01

Tell Us About Your Dog

Breed, age, coat type and how they usually handle being groomed — including anything that tends to unsettle them.

02

Choose Your Grooming Needs

A bath and brush, a trim, paw and nail attention, or a combination. We will say what we think is realistic for the visit.

03

Request a Visit

Send through the dates and times that suit you, and we will come back to you about availability.

Please note: sending a request does not guarantee an appointment. Your visit is booked only once we have checked availability and confirmed it with you directly.

Why Paw Haven

How we approach every grooming visit.

A thoughtful approach to each pet

We work to the dog in front of us rather than a fixed routine — their coat, their pace, their tolerance for handling.

Clear communication with pet parents

You hear what we did, how your dog found it, and anything worth knowing before the next visit.

Attention to comfort and handling

Unhurried handling and breaks where they help, so grooming stays something your dog can tolerate rather than endure.

A welcoming, clean environment

Tidy stations, calm surroundings and equipment cleaned between dogs, so arriving feels settled rather than chaotic.

Questions

Before you book

How should I prepare my dog for a grooming visit?

A walk beforehand and a chance to toilet usually helps your dog arrive settled. Let us know about sore spots, recent injuries, skin sensitivities or areas they dislike being touched, and mention anything a vet has advised. If your dog tends to be anxious, tell us in advance so we can plan a slower pace from the start.

Can I share my dog's grooming preferences?

Yes, and it genuinely helps. Tell us the length you prefer, areas to leave alone, how your dog reacts to clippers or the dryer, and anything that has worked well before. We will talk it through before starting, and we will say honestly if something is not achievable on the day given their coat condition or comfort level.

How often should my dog be groomed?

It varies a great deal and there is no single schedule that suits every dog. Coat type and length, how much your dog sheds, how often they get muddy and how comfortable they are being handled all change the answer. Some coats need frequent attention and others much less. We can suggest a rough rhythm once we have seen your dog's coat, and your vet is the right person to ask if there is a skin or health reason to adjust it.

How do I request an appointment?

Send us your dog's details and the grooming you are looking for, along with the dates that suit you. We will come back to you about availability. A request on its own does not reserve a slot — the appointment is confirmed only once we have replied and agreed it with you.
